After visiting India after about 5 years (due to Covid), I was finally able to see my grandparents. As my first drawing since middle school, I made this from an old picture of my grandmother as a gift the month before we left.

These were all drawings done in my high school Foundations of Art class (11th grade) in which I realized that I love doing henna(mehndi) designs to relax and I really dislike watercolor. I think I could get much better at watercolor with more practice but I wasn't really fond of this first attempt that managed to be showcased at my school. The picture above is another class project for gradient practice but with a broader picture.

Also done in my junior year art class and placed in the 2024 District Art Show was my oil pastel drawing of a lily (of course). This was my first time creating a complete drawing using oil pastels. It was a very messy process but I really enjoyed blending with my fingers and getting involved in my art while also fighting to keep my clothes the same color as they were when I first came into the classroom.

Finally, this is my last project in my Foundations of Art class. The project was to create a surrealist piece with any meaning of your choosing. When brainstorming, I began to think of real-world problems that teenagers deal with today since I wanted my piece to have a meaning others could relate to. I took two attempts to create the piece that I liked and used my two favorite mediums, graphite and colored pencil, to create it. This piece includes a black-and-white background representing others' judgement and the color in the eye to represent my way of looking at life. My life is full of color (and lilies) despite words of others trying to make my world black-and-white.
